On June 1, 2026, the D.F. Ustinov Military-Mechanical University in St. Petersburg held a session titled "AI in the Defense Industry: New Technologies and Challenges," led by Vladimir Voronov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at the D.F. Ustinov Military-Mechanical University.
Representatives of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation for State Policy in the Military-Industrial Complex, leading experts of the defense industry, the scientific and technical community, and IT companies were invited to participate in the session. Among the speakers was Roman Tkachev, Commercial Director of SIGIS Technologies LLC, who presented the company's solutions for digital twins of critical infrastructure enterprises based on the cGIS Pro platform.
The session participants noted that artificial intelligence is becoming an integral part of the modern military-industrial complex, shaping new technologies and approaches to management, planning, and security. Critical infrastructure enterprises rely on the creation of digital twins, intelligent management of production, logistics, and maintenance. Russia is focusing on its own developments, building human resources, and creating sovereign AI solutions to ensure national security and technological sovereignty.

The participants were particularly interested in the presentation by Sygis Technologies on the technology of building a digital twin of the territory of critical infrastructure enterprises based on the cGIS Pro platform. It was noted that cGIS Pro allows you to integrate heterogeneous spatial and attribute data from already implemented enterprise information systems (GIS, BIM, ERP, BI, etc.) and external sources without mandatory data migration, enabling their joint display and analysis in a single web interface.
According to the participants, the cGIS Pro platform can be effectively used to create digital twins of critical infrastructure enterprises, support situational analysis, and provide operational management. The platform's potential as an import substitution tool, capable of replacing foreign GIS solutions and surpassing them in various aspects, including handling large amounts of spatial data, 2D/3D visualization, and integration with industrial and corporate systems, was also highlighted
cGIS Pro AI Assistant, an intelligent assistant that allows users to work with the digital twin of a territory using natural language queries, has also attracted significant interest. This significantly reduces the requirements for user qualifications, not only in cGIS Pro, but also when working with external information systems that serve as data sources for the digital twin of a territory.
Following the meeting, the participants noted the high level of discussion and the importance of developing cooperation between universities, industry, and IT companies in the field of artificial intelligence and digital twins based on domestic technological platforms.
